Data You Give Us Directly
Information entered into the search boxes, such as a name, phone number, or address, is sent to the third-party provider that supplies those results. Berlin Residents Directory does not keep a copy of the search. If you contact us, we receive the content of your message and use it to answer or route the question.
Data We Gather Automatically
Hosting systems may record ordinary server data, including an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps. We use aggregate information to maintain the pages and understand general use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or, where applicable, advertising measurement.
What We Do With This Data
We use site data to operate the reference, answer messages, fix faults, measure traffic in broad terms, and improve content. We do not sell visitor lists or create an individual profile of a reader.
Links to Other Websites
Pages link to Berlin municipal portals, Connecticut agencies, courts, libraries, archives, and third-party search tools. The linked service's own privacy policy governs anything submitted there. Sponsored search results are supplied by a third party and are subject to that provider's terms.
Who Might See Your Data
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs to support the pages. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Disclosure may also occur when valid legal process requires it; otherwise, we do not disclose message or log information as a separate visitor list.
How We Protect Your Data
The site uses an encrypted connection, and logs are kept only for the operational purposes described here. There are no user accounts or passwords on the reference, so it does not maintain a reader profile for someone to access or expose.
Users Under 18
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has sent information to the contact address, ask us to remove it.
Your Data Rights
Connecticut's consumer-privacy law is the Connecticut Data Privacy Act, CGS chapter 743jj. Its scope and exclusions matter; it does not erase or override Berlin land records, Connecticut FOIA, voter-file rules, court records, vital-record statutes, or federal DPPA limits. To the small extent Berlin Residents Directory holds contact or log information, ask to access, correct, or delete it through the Contact page. Public records held by the Berlin Town Clerk, Assessor, registrars, Judicial Branch, DPH, SOTS, or another custodian are outside our control. Corrections or removal requests for those records belong with the office that maintains them. Connecticut public-record requests are governed by the Freedom of Information Act, Chapter 14, CGS ยงยง1-200 through 1-242, subject to exemptions.
